Happy 5th Birthday!
Strong willed children become adults who change the world,She has very clear thoughts and opinions, she is fiercely independent, a leader, strong willed, curious, smart, funny, resilient, kind-hearted, creative and HAPPY. In these last couple of weeks, she has become more articulate than ever and conversing with her is always full of surprises! Now we are going to have to watch what we say around her!
as long as we can hang on for the ride and resist the temptation
to “tame” the spirit out of them…
She is more than I ever could have asked for and everything I have always wanted all rolled up in one. If I had to weather all those storms just to get to her, then they were worth every single raindrop.
Fun facts:
- In her own words, she loves every color of the rainbow, except pink. Blue remains her favorite.
- Unicorns and dogs are her preferred pet choices, but a horse is fine too, and maybe a dinosaur.
- She would take rocks, trucks and dirt over dolls, princesses and tea parties any day!
- She is growing out of the “baby tv” she used to watch and has recently decided to try new shows almost every day! She still loves Peppa Pig and PJ Masks but has recently gotten into Polly Pocket and Justin Time. And, parenting win, we have managed to avoid her ever seeing, in her lifetime, a single episode of Caillou!
- She plans to be a vet when she is older, but only for cuddly animals – no snakes or spiders!
- Her veterinary clinic needs a large door for the horses because they will need to go to her, she won’t go to them… unless she gets a big blue pickup truck; to be discussed when she gets her license.
- She sleeps with not 1, 2, or 3 stuffed animals but 13 and a giant pillow pet horse! When placing them back into her clean bed the other day, I only got 6 of them in their designated spots. Fail!
- She will defend her mispronunciations of words to the ends of the earth! And they are adorable.
- Swimming and horseback riding are her favorite activities, team sports and not for her.
- She loves doing chores around the house, running errands, grocery shopping, etc… and not just because she has a chore chart that ears her rewards!
- She speaks English and French fluently, but is also learning Spanish thanks to Sesame Street, Dora and the songs in Mommy’s car… oops!
She will be starting Kindergarten next year! And although it will not be “en Anglais”, as she has stated she would prefer, she is more than ready for it; probably more so than we are as parents! She already has a very good handle on numbers, basic math and currency and she is catching up quickly with her writing. It’s amazing what little sponges of knowledge they are at this age! And, she even got her backpack, lunch bag and accessories recently; unicorns of course!
Happy birthday kiddo! It isn't at all what I planned for it to be, thanks to Covid, but Mommy has some surprises up her sleeve and cannot wait to see your face light up with each and every one. I love you to the moon and back again!
