Post-op: 2 weeks out
I can't believe that 2 whole weeks have already gone by! I had my first follow up yesterday with the dietician and she was happy with everything. The goal with surgery is to lose a minimum of 60% of excess weight in the next year. I have already lost 19% so I'm a third of the way there! More importantly, to me, my sugars are already under control and I should be pulled of the last remaining diabetic medication late next week.
I am finally off my diet of oatmeal and cream soups and have graduated to soft and/or pureed foods for the next few weeks. I had a hard boiled egg for lunch and a chili puree last night for dinner. After weeks of bland food they were both delicious! So good that I have a batch of chili going in the slow cooker now to last me the week, or more!
I also dropped by work to say hi and, while I admittedly do miss it a little, I am in no rush to go back. Recovery has certainly been going better than I ever expected, but my energy levels are not enough to get through an 8hr day at the office. Just a trip to the hospital and a visit to work resulted in a 2hr nap to get through the rest of the day. Unfortunately, I can't nap at the office!
Hopefully with the new diet and a couple more weeks rest I wil be good as new!
