And then she was... three!
Not a night has gone by when I haven't stopped by her door just to hear her breath. Lately, just before I turn in for the night, I can hear her giggling away through her dreams. It instantly brings a smile to my face and has, admittedly, made it easier for me to sleep at night as well.
Looking back, I have to say that the “terrible-twos” weren't so terrible after all. But, I fully expect the trials and tribulations of a “threenager” are in our near future.
She is strong willed, stubbornly independent and just a little bit impatient. But she is also kind, curious, generous and empathetic too. She is courageous. She is smart. And she is cheeky, with an amazing sense of humor and a contagious laugh! She always wants to be outside and loves to run errands, even if you’re just going out to get some gas. Everything is an adventure; from checking out the spooky Halloween stores to visiting all of the animals in the pet store, grocery shopping or just walking around the mall. She doesn’t like to be cooped up and sit still for long periods of time, she needs to get up and move.
And dance! She loves music, and she always wants to bounce around to her favorite songs.
She loves horses and dinosaurs, trains, trucks and cars.
She watches Sesame Street, Paw Patrol and the Lion Guard.
She adores books, puzzles and smashing block towers too.
She isn’t a fan of pink, but loves anything blue.
She likes to help and she likes to clean, she loves to cook and she loves to eat!
My mother used to say she started to go gray at 28. It's not until now, that I realize what she meant... because that's how old she was when she had me. But, I wouldn’t change a minute of it for the world. I could lose everything I have, and as long as I still have her I have everything I will ever need.
Twinkle, twinkle, my little star… do you know just how loved you are?
